Trump Order for US to Exit WHO Prompts Alarm
In abandoning the World Health Organization, the Trump administration indicates that it is unable to distinguish between international primacy issues and the role of global health architecture. Trump is set to silence an important channel of American soft diplomacy, at the expense of even greater Chinese influence worldwide. The argument that the decision is planting the seeds of a future pandemic, while somewhat fantastical at this time, deserves merit.

Plastic Surgery Boom Lures South Korea’s Overworked Doctors
Did all that time spent on Zoom during the pandemic focus our attention on eyelid adjustments, face lifts, and jowl reductions? Maybe. The medical tourism business, while not limited strictly to cosmetic procedures, is booming. Dementia Cases in the US Will Surge in Coming Decades
A looming healthcare emergency— both in the US and elsewhere—is the unrelenting expansion of dementia cases. There is no clear path to resolution, at least for now. The volume of people who will be diagnosed with this group of diseases weighs heavily on societies. The results of a World Health Organization study released in 2019, for instance, suggest that the average annual cost per person of dementia care globally is near $24K. Given spiraling healthcare costs worldwide, that number seems highly conservative.
